my monday...
--A hedge fund manager that made billions of dollars last year betting the sub-prime lenders would collapse just hired the guy who most people blame for starting the sub-prime mess to begin with... Alan Greenspan, who primed the sub-prime by keeping interest rates overly under inflated.
--Our President just handed over a huge arms sale of some serious techno killing machines to the wealthiest and most organised repressive Islamic fundamental country on the planet... the type of guys he is blaming for trying to baste us free folk with Islamo-fascist funk right before they set us on fire.
--One of the two prez candidates that best represents why our election process needs a serious overhaul was tossed out of tonight's debate on NBC after already making the line-up. Kucinich sued and won but NBC is trying to push through a last minute appeal... because they can. Keith Olbermann where are you? Your bosses are acting like assholes... again.
--Citicorp just announced it will not fire 20,000 people to offset its negative spreadsheet balance and the market manipulators are crying bad move and are punishing the company with a major stock sell off for keeping all of those detriments to the bottom line on the payroll.
Our sick-care costs are on the verge of driving one of us back into the subservient force so we can get some partial benefits in lieu of pay because the pharma and insurance and big-box industries like it that way. Maybe connect the Kucinich issue above as to why he's not allowed to debate the preferred candidates.
Haven't enough people had enough of rich people getting richer and the mechanisms that keep them that way? The whole mental environment is so blatantly unapologetic that I'm beginning to think I'm really part of a cultish sub-minority that just doesn't get it... that we are destined by scripture and prophecy to engulf and devour our way into a blissful oblivion, maiming any and all in our path and I'm going to be left out of all the fun because I'm too stupid.
And even if still rejecting that premise, how does one disconnect from the push and pulls of such a conglomeration, still contribute, and eat. Get holy by getting anti-holy? Join or create a new anti-religion religion and try to get tax free status while wielding a big collection plate?
I realize this has been all going on for some time... like forever, but I thought we were making some progress other than rumblings about change, and jumping bandwagons, and amping up short pop momentums and the such. We did somewhat give the Demos a mandate the last midterm, right? My first inclination is to roll over and let the crust infestation seal my lids shut for good. My more base warrior instinct is to get insurgent but that has shown to be frustratingly pointless over the years. There are no Hyde Parks in Skagitville to perch upon a soapbox and I would likely be a target of someone in their SUV trying to get to the Costco Gas Station before it closed and thus run over as blocking the shortest distance between two points. There is no collective consciousness concerning Ghandi-esque movements other than a multitude of splinter groups each with a better idea and I already subscribe to too many of them and all that seems to be progressing is a digital nodding of the heads.
I think I'm going to go for a long depressing cynical walk.
